On stifling day, Xcel Energy flips on power-management ‘Saver Switch’
Xcel Energy on Tuesday activated its hot-weather “Saver Switch” power-management system for the first time in nearly three years, cycling on and off the central air conditioners for hundreds of thousands of Minnesota customers in order to ease the peak demand on its electricity load.
